Yup, a new logo

As reported here first, the San Jose Sharks unveiled their new logo today. To reiterate, I didn't think a change was necessary, as the Sharks nickname, color scheme and the logo itself are unique in the sporting world. But with Reebok redesigning all NHL jerseys this fall, the Sharks decided to be conformists and follow this depressing trend. Here is a breakdown of the new-look Sharks:

The new logo just seems a little too Japanese-anime for my taste. While the idea of incorporating more teal into the logo seems like a good idea in theory, I don't like the outcome this time around. The orange eye is a nice touch, but it reminds me of a logo you see in a bad sports movie, like "Any Given Sunday."
VERDICT: Downgrade

I actually like the change here. The new logo does a better job of capturing motion and seems more imposing that the original. While the teal has been reduced, the orange seems to work against the black. Not wild about the square background, but overall, I think it's an improvement.
VERDICT: Upgrade

You want to talk about disappointing? I loved the "Sharks" with the bite marks out of it, reminiscent of the Chomp that fans do before every home power play. Now it seems like another generic team name, and what's with the green replacing teal?
VERDICT: Downgrade
