Wild wedding weekend
Over the weekend, two friends from school were married down in Toledo. I've known Megan from our days together at the Daily and we covered men's hoops together my senior year. Scott and Megan dated for as long as I knew them, and Scott tagged along with Megan to Daily Sports parties over the years. So when we heard that Scott proposed to Megan, all the former sports writers were excited to get back together for their wedding.
I took Friday off from work, as people were coming back to Ann Arbor at various points throughout the day. A group of us met at Dominic's on Friday night, and it almost felt like we were back in school. The wedding was yesterday afternoon followed by the reception at night. Without hyperbole, this was one of the classiest receptions I will probably ever attend, so my hat is off to the Kolodgys. It was held in their back yard, which had two tiers and amazing landscaping. Plus, a great band and an open bar all night. Needless to say, Daily Sports picked up where it left off doing some heavy drinking. It was a lot of fun catching up with people I haven't seen since graduation and we just picked up right where we left off. A bunch of us crashed at the nearby hotel and headed back to reality this morning.
Although I've been to a few weddings already, this was the first of my friends from school to get married, as well as knowing both the bride and groom for years. I don't think anyone doubted that they would get married, but I sense that we were all aware that this was a fairly transition for our group. So congrats to the new Mr. and Mrs. Rudolph, I'm confident they will share a great life together, and I'm grateful that they considered me a friend over the years.
