The "M" Stands for Mind-boggling
LOS ALTOS, Calif. — With today’s 34-32 loss to Appalachian State, the Michigan football program became the punchline of jokes all across America. Never again will the team have quite the same level of prestige it enjoyed in years past, as a Division 1-AA team just defeated what supposedly was the fifth-ranked team in the country.
This might be considered one of the biggest upsets of all-time, and Michigan fans will never live this down. Regardless of what happens in the future, opposing fans will always be able to trump any comment I make with, “At least we never lost to a 1-AA team when we were a top 25 team.” That’s the trump card; there is no comeback from that.
I have never been a Lloyd Carr fan, but I always put up with his apologists since he has won several Big Ten titles and a national title during his tenure. But now his legacy will be that he became the first coach to let a top-25 team lose to a 1-AA school. I really hope the rumors about his impending retirement are true, since he clearly can’t motivate players any more.
So regardless of what happens the rest of this season and every season to come, Michigan will be forever known as the biggest choker in NCAA football history. I know that I had to eat a huge slice of humble pie today, and I know that all Michigan alums like myself lost the ability to be so arrogant about our football team for quite some time.

I was at the game and I think it is a simple case of Carr not getting his team ready while Appalachian St. was more than ready.
Never under estimate the power of 40 guys ALL giving the performance of their life. One guy can do wonders when properly motivated. This was a case of everyone being motivated that way.
Oh...and the fact that the Michigan defense seems to be like a donut (Soft on the outsides and a complete hole in the center) doesn't help either.
I was sitting there, watching the game and thinking. Not only is Appalacian St. kicking our asses, they are doing it the same way that Michigan beats up on its opponents. They drove the ball...play after play, straight up the middle. This, to me, must have been humiliating.
I have never been to see a Wolverine game, ever in my life. Brian (and James, cause I know you will read this)...I promise to never go see another one again. If I have the negative JuJu...I will keep it away from The Big House.

I hope that they do better next weekend. I don't want my first game to be a bad one...I want to be able to cheer and upset all of the old alumi that sit around me!
